What we do

Health Focus

  • HIV/AIDS: Support the training of lay counselors, Provide bicycles for lay counselors; Procure tents for mobile HIV testing and counseling
  • Reproductive, maternal and child health: Support community education around family planning, male involvement and cervical cancer
  • Malaria Prevention: Support the training of Malaria Control Agents, provide them with bicycles, distribute insecticide-treated mosquito nets and support indoor residual spraying across the district, procure microscopes for malaria laboratory testing
  • Health infrastructure: Construct 2 rural health centres at Luangwa High School and Sinyawagora and support renovation of the Kavalamanja health facility; Procure motorbikes for outreach services; purchase x-ray machine and laboratory facilities, Fencing of health facilities, Renovation of 32 Primary Health Care (PHC) units

Livelihood Focus

  • Install an irrigation system for 200 hectares of land throughout the district and Support cooperative fish farming in the district. Drill 6 boreholes solar powered borehole and install water reservoir to support irrigation in Yapite and Chitope areas.
  • Support poultry and vegetable production for youth and empower them with inputs, irrigation, training and support.
  • Support 1000 farmers with bee hives and train them in honey production
  • Empower 5000 farmers with goats and support them in improved pasture and milk production

Education Focus

  • Supporting the education of children with special education needs
  • Construct teachers houses
  • Construct early childhood education centres, provide support to existing centres, and train teachers
  • Support adult literacy, and provide teaching and learning materials
  • Construct classrooms and provide furniture
  • Provide clean water to schools by drilling and upgrading boreholes to have solar powered pumps
  • Construct a skills training centre for the youth in the community and provide furniture

Water and Sanitation Focus

  • Install 21 boreholes, with 10,000 litre tanks and solar powered systems, in rural health centres and communities
  • Train volunteers to maintain and repair boreholes
  • Train volunteers to support hygiene and safe sanitation in their communities

Child Protection Focus

  • Train children, youth and adults on child protection issues, and establish community based mechanisms for reporting issues and communicating with community members about child protection
